The 2000 Massachusetts State Quarter
- Each state quarter collection card includes two brilliant uncirculated
quarters: one has a Denver (D) mint mark and the other Philadelphia (P).
These are the only US minted coins produced for circulation.
- Massachusetts became the 6th state to enter the union on February 6, 1788.
- The Massachusetts Quarter features a minuteman posed in front of the state outline, with a star marking Boston, the state's capital. The term "minutemen" particularly describes men who were enrolled for service by the Massachusetts provincial congress. Named for their readiness at a minute's notice, minutemen were armed citizens who led the initial battles of the American Revolution.
- Mintage: 628,600,000 quarters were minted at the Philadelphia mint and 535,184,000 were minted at the Denver mint for a total of 1,163,784,000 Massachusetts minted quarters during a 10 week production span.
